Participatory Creation

The work of Christoph Fink would not easily be placed under the term of e-culture. But the way he works has many similarities with the whole field of locative media arts, attaching location data to personal experiences.

(101,5km) 17u54 (…) Lightening flashes at 2 – 3 o’clock. Black wall and heavy rain.
(102,9km) 18u00-18u03 The tempest lies on my track but slides slowly northwestward. (…) Hear soft and distant thundering. (…) Doubting.
(106,3km) 18u20  Waiting. The whole thing rolls in now in a colossal wild movement, ripped at the bottom, rolling carpet black at middle height. (…)

However, he materialises the data that he gathers during his journeys by bike, train,… in a quite different way than e.g.  in a GPS walk or game. The works are always a very poetic mix of very unexpected materials. This time he calls his work in Antwerp:
‘a city portret / a history view / an image of time / rethinking modernity
for 5 engines, linen and embroiderie’. You have still a week to visit this work in Antwerp at LLS 387.
